Welcome to river glen boat trips
Freda J. is a classic wooden clinker built boat fully restored to her finest glory. She is licensed to carry up to twelve passengers. Your hosts are captain Stephen and his first mate the friendly Snoopy Dog! The river glen runs through the village of Surfleet, which is four miles from the market town of Spalding. There are four pubs in the village, two along the river and two a five minute walk away, serving fine food and ale and some accommodate.

During the journey between the Mermaid Inn and the reservoir there is a chance to see some wildlife in its natural environment with some lovely scenery along the river banks.

The main attraction while cruising along is seeing some of Surfleet's finest beautiful gardens which back onto the river and then arriving at the end of the journey at Surfleet reservoir. The reservoir holds the water with lock gates which define the tidal waters of the river Welland from the wash.

We mainly run from the Mermaid Inn, across from Surfleet's leaning church on the B1356. We also run from the Riverside Inn just off the A16 in Surfleet and Sea's End Road, prior to arrangement. Plans are being made for pick up and drop off at the reservoir.

The area is also popular with ramblers and fisherman who also benefit from a local fishing tackle shop.
